South Carolina State suffered a tough 60-77 setback to Samford on Sunday. The Bulldogs played their fifth (5
th) straight road game against Samford. Three Bulldogs scored double-figures with junior forward
Damani Applewhite leading with way with a team-high 17 points, 10 rebounds. Senior guard
Janai Raynor-Powell added 13 and
Jahmari Etienne finished with 12 in the loss.
Meanwhile, the Cougars knocked off University of Memphis 78-75 in Orlando, Florida. CofC had three players in double-figures with Grant Riley leading the way with a game-high 32 points and nine (9) rebounds, while teammates Jarrell Brantley added 19 points and Brevin Galloway 15 in the win.
A LOOK AT THE COUGARS: Grant is the leader with 20.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assist, while Brantley adds 19.3 and 8.1 rebounds. Galloway adds 10.0 points and 3.0 rebounds to the roster.
SCOUTING South Carolina STATE
Applewhite is the leader for the Bulldogs at 19.4 points and 6.6 rebounds. Raynor-Powell the floor general controls the tempo 11.4 ppg, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assist. Etienne chips in 7.1 along with sophomore guard
Rayshawn Neal and junior forward
Ozante Fields (5.4 rebounds) adds a little over 6.6 points respectively.
