CHARLESTON, SC — The South Carolina State men's basketball team look to rebound on the road when they face intra-state rival Charleston Southern Tuesday (Nov.13th) at Buc Dome. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. (Est) and will be televised on ESPN+.

LAST MEETING: A year ago in Orangeburg in the first meeting between the two programs in nearly 18 years, South Carolina State erased a late nine-point deficit to rally for a 91-88 overtime victory.

BULLDOG BITES: The Bulldogs (1-1) are coming off a tough, 74-52, road loss to Tulsa in Oklahoma. Preseason All-MEAC selection junior forward Damani Applewhite led the way with 21 points and four (4) rebounds in the loss.

In two games, Applewhite is averaging almost 20 points five (5) rebounds per contest, while senior Jani Raynor-Powell and newcomer junior transfer Jahmari Etienne is tossing in 10.0 points each per outing. Junior forward Ozante Fields is the leader on the boards with 9.0 rebounds and 8.0 ppg.
As team South Carolina State is shooting 16-of-38 (.42%) from behind the arc.

SCOUTING THE BUCS: CSU (1-1) is looking to rebound from a 76-46 loss Friday at Florida. The Bucs have four players in double figures leading the way with Christian Keeling averaging 15.5 points and 4.0 rebounds. Jamir Moore is second with 11.0 points, while teammates Travis McConico (7.5 rebounds) and Dontrelle Shuler each add 10.0 ppg.

QUOTEABLE-HEAD COACH MURRAY GARVIN: "The matchup with Charleston Southern is a big game for our program, because it is the next game on our schedule. Both teams are desperate for a win with both coming off losses to power five (5) programs. We know they will be well prepared and ready to play and have tremendous respect for their coaching staff and players. I look forward to a hard fought contest in one of the toughest gyms in the country. I told the guys that this is what interstate games are all about. We need Bulldog Fans to make that short drive and support us in numbers at CSU."

NEXT UP: South Carolina State embark on a four-game road swing beginning with Cleveland State (Nov. 16th) at 7 p.m., Ohio State (Nov. 18th) at 2 p.m., Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov.20th) at 7 p.m. and Samford on Nov.25th in a 7:30 p.m. (EST) start.
