Lady Bulldogs Fall 58-44 To Delaware State

Box Score DOVER, Del.—Graduate guard Bryeasha Blair scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, but it wasn't enough for South Carolina State to escape an, 44-58, defeat to Delaware State Saturday (Jan. 6th) at Memorial Hall.

South Carolina State falls to 5-9 overall, 0-2 MEAC, while Delaware State improves to 2-13 ovDrerall, 1-1 in the league.

Tyesha Lewis and Jasmine Williams added eight points each respectively for the Lady Bulldogs. Williams also finished with six rebounds in the loss.

Delaware State was led by Najai Taylor with the games only double-double with 14 points ,12 rebounds and four blocks. Keke Barber chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds in the win.

The Hornets led 31-25 during intermission.

The Lady Bulldogs managed to tie the game, 37-37, off a three-pointer by Blair with 2:12 remaining in the third quarter. Delaware State sparked a 21-3 run to start the fourth quarter off to build their biggest lead of the evening 18, 58-40 with 0:18 seconds remaining in regulation.

DSU held on to capture their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference win of the year in a 58-44 victory.

South Carolina State will have a week off before returning to action on Saturday, Jan.14th at home when they host visiting Howard in an MEAC Doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. for the women, and 4 p.m. for the men at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
