Box Score RALEIGH, NC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team had three players in double-figures with graduate guard Donte Wright leading the way in a team-high 16 points and five assists, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs dropped a 103-71 decision to NC State Saturday (Dec. 2) at the PNC Arena.
Freshman guard Rayshawn Neal finished with 12 points, while sophomore forward Damani Applewhite added 10 in the loss.
The Bulldogs got solid play with nine points each from senior guard James "JJ" Richardson and sophomore forward Ian Kinard. Kinard also finished with a team-high five rebounds.
Despite the loss, South Carolina State shot a game-best 75% (9-of-12) from the charity stripe, while also leading the way in fast break points (27-21) and holding even in second chance points (12-12) on the day.
South Carolina State's defense kept pushing forcing the Wolfpack to 16 turnovers and finishing with a game-high nine steals.
North Carolina State was led by Lennard Freeman with a game-high 19 points, while Torin Dorn recorded the games only double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
