Box Score DOVER, DEL—Sophomore quarterback Kennan Black threw 14-of-27 for 218 yards and two touchdowns to lead Delaware State to a ,17-14, victory over visiting South Carolina State Saturday (Oct. 21
st) at Alumni Stadium.
"This is the most disappointing loss of my career, "said head coach Buddy Pough. "I am heartbroken just as Bulldog nation is at this point. We had a chance to pull it off things just didn't go our way at the end."
South Carolina State falls to 2-5 overall, 1-4 in the MEAC, while Delaware State posted their first win of the season snapping a 17-game losing streak to improve to 1-6 overall, 1-4 in the league.
DSU's last win came on Nov. 21
st, 2015 when they defeated Howard 32-31 in Dover, DE.
The Hornets jumped out early in the first quarter scoring on a 36-yard toss from Black to Taronn Selby at the 12:48 mark. Black found the end zone once again on a 9-yard toss to Fatu Sua-Godinet to close out the quarter.

Trey Samuel pulled the Bulldogs within a score on a 48-yard run with 2:38 remaining in the first-half. The PAT by
Tyler Scandrett was good.
Redshirt sophomore Dewann Ford, Jr. tied the game on an 8-yard pass to
Quan Caldwell with 13:30 remaining in regulation.
Senior kicker Wisdom Nzidee put the Hornets ahead on a 29-yard field goal with 10:11 remaining to give Delaware State a 14-17 lead to secure the victory

Dayshawn Taylor finished with a game-high 12 tackles (9 solo), three (3) tackles for loss and three sacks on the day. All-American linebacker
Darius Leonard added eight in the loss. Samuel led the rushing attack 11 carries for 92-yards and a touchdown.
Ford, Jr. finished throwing 22-of-38 for 170 yards , one touchdown and three interceptions. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver
Quan Caldwell led the receiving corps with six (6) catches for 68-yards.
