Box Score BALTIMORE, MD—The South Carolina State men's basketball team dropped a tough Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opener at Coppin State, 75-59, Wednesday (Jan.4) at the Physical Education Complex.
Four Bulldog were in double figures with senior guard
Greg Mortimer and junior guard James "JJ" Richardson tossing in 14 points and three rebounds each. Senior guard
Eric Eaves added 13 and eight rebounds, while junior forward
Tashombe Riley chipped in 10 points and four rebounds in the loss.
Starting freshman forward
Ian Kinard saw limited action due to an injury, but the Bulldogs managed to still out-rebound Coppin State 33-30 on the night.
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs led in several categories including second chance points (16-4) and bench points (17-17).
South Carolina State returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 7) against Hampton at the HU Convocation Center in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown. Tipoff is 6 p.m., immediately following the women's contest.
