Lady Bulldogs Continue MEAC Road Swing At Maryland Eastern Shore

PRINCESS ANNE, MD—South Carolina State returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action on Saturday (Jan. 28) on the road against Maryland Eastern Shore at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center in Princess Anne, MD. Tipoff is 2 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 55th meeting between the two schools with South Carolina State leading the series, 31-23. The last time they met on the hardwood Maryland Eastern Shore swept SC State 2-0, posting a 63-56 win in Orangeburg to snap a nine-year losing skid and a 61-55 victory on "Homecoming" at the Hytche Center.

LAST TIMEOUT: South Carolina State suffered an, 80-46, setback to top-ranked Hampton on Wednesday (Jan.25) at the HU Convocation Center. Graduate guard Breyshea Blair led the Lady Bulldogs with a team-high 12 points.

Meanwhile, Maryland Eastern Shore dropped a tough, 59-49, road loss to Florida A&M on Monday (Jan. 23). The Hawks were held to a season-low 49 points in the loss. Senior guard Mariah McCoy (Rock Hill, S.C.) led the way with a team-high 13 points.

A LOOK AT THE MATCHUP: South Carolina State (4-13, 1-5 MEAC) will look to turn things around against the Hawks after that tough loss to top-ranked Hampton on Wednesday. The Lady Bulldogs are led by guard Bryeasha Blair with 17.5 ppg/2nd in the MEAC and junior forward Brittany Drumgoole at 11.2 points per outing/15th in the MEAC. Junior Jahmia Bradley anchors the frontcourt in rebounding with 7.1 per outing while scoring 7.9 points per game.
Maryland Eastern Shore (8-8, 2-3 MEAC) has three players in double-figures with Ciani Byrom leading the Hawks with 14.6 ppg. McCoy is second with 10.3 points and teammate Keyera Eaton adds 10.0 points per contest. Moengaroa Subritzky is the leader on the boards with 6.8 rebounds

NEXT UP: South Carolina State close out a three-game road swing Monday (Jan. 30) in Washington, DC when they take on host the Howard Bison in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader.
