Brittany Drumgoole added 10 points, seven rebounds, while
Jahmia Bradley chipped in nine points and six rebounds in the loss. The Lady Bulldogs fell to 3-11 overall, 0-3 in the MEAC.
SSU's Rhianna Warren led the way with a team-high 16 points and Kenyata Hendrix captured the games only double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Tigers improved to 4-13 overall and 2-3 in the league.
Despite, the loss SC State forced a game-high 15 turnovers and out-rebounded Savannah State 36-35, while shooting 18-of-27 from the charity stripe.
"Savannah State had a game plan and we never adjusted to it," said SC State head coach Doug Robertson. "We started playing well in the fourth quarter but we pretty much dug a hole for ourselves and we couldn't get out of it."
SSU led by as many as 25 in the second-half, 49-24, at the 9:31 mark left in regulation. The Lady Bulldogs rallied back to cut the lead to seven, 55-48, off a three-pointer by Blair with 1:19 left. The Lady Tigers held on to claim their second league contest on the season.
The Bulldogs return to the court Saturday, when they host Delaware State in the first game of an MEAC doubleheader, beginning at 2 p.m.
