No. 3 SC State Takes On No.1 Hampton In MEAC Title Game

NORFOLK, VA—The South Carolina State Bulldogs will face top-seed Hampton in the 2016 MEAC Men's Basketball Championship game Saturday (Mar. 12) in The Scope Arena. Tipoff is 1 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN2.

No.1-seed Hampton and last year's tournament champion advanced with an 89-55 thrashing of Savannah State in the semifinal game Friday night.

Meanwhile, No. 3-seed SC State knocked off hometown favorite No.2-seed Norfolk State 67-65 to advance to the title game the first time since 2010. The Bulldogs last won the MEAC Crown in 2003.

The last time these two teams met South Carolina State South Carolina State junior guard Eric Eaves scored a team-high 18 points, while sophomore guard Ty Solomon nailed a late 3-pointer and tossed in two important free throws, to give Hampton their first conference loss of the season ,67-62, Monday at the HU Convocation Center.
 
The women's finale will begin one hour after the men's finish and will broadcast taped delayed on ESPNU beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 13.  The preliminary games are streamed on ESPN3.
