CORAL GABLES, Fla.---The South Carolina State men's basketball team will head to the sunshine state to battle ACC opponent the University of Miami in an non-conference showdown Tuesday (Dec. 6) at Watsco Center (7, 972). Tipoff is 7 p.m. (ET) and can be seen live on the ACC ESPN Network Extra.

This will be the third meeting All-Time between the two schools on the hardwood, since the rebirth of the series back in 1985-86. SC State and Miami are 1-1 with the Hurricanes winning the last outing 91-54 on Dec. 12, 2009 at home.
South Carolina State (2-5) improved to 2-0 at home with a 90-85 victory over Voorhees on last week. Junior guard James "JJ" Richardson tossed in a team-high 25 points in the win. Senior guard

Meanwhile, Miami (6-2) have posted impressive wins in their last two outings with wins over Rutgers (73-61) and Wofford (74-57). The Hurricanes are led by junior guard Ja' Quan Newton with 16.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, while senior Davon Reed is second in scoring with 12.4 ppg and 4.6 rpg. Newcomers and freshmen Bruce Brown and Dewan Huell each chips in a little over 9.0 points per contest and redshirt senior forward Kamari Murphy is the leader on the boards with 8.5 rebounds and 7.1 points per game.
South Carolina State returns to action on Saturday (Dec. 10) against SEC powerhouse Texas A&M in College Station, TX. Tipoff is 7 p.m. (CST) / 8 p.m. (EST).
