MBB: Bulldogs On The Road To Take On Syracuse

SYRACUSE, NY---The South Carolina State Bulldogs take on #17 nationally-ranked Syracuse in the second match up of the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational Tuesday, Nov. 22. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m. (EST) in the Carrier Dome.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools every in school history.

The Bulldogs (1-2) are coming off a tough 92-50 defeat to SEC opponent University of South Carolina Friday (Nov.18) at the Colonial Life Center. Senior guard Eric "EJ" Eaves led SC State with a team-high 18 points and junior forward Tashombe Riley chipped in 10 in the loss. Meanwhile, the Orange (3-0) remains undefeated in the Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational Tournament with a 71-50 routing of Monmouth on Friday (Nov.18) at the Carrier Dome.

A LOOK AT THE BULLDOGS
    *Eric Eaves leads South Carolina State in scoring. He averages 15.3 points per game. Greg Mortimer also averages double figures in scoring with 12.3 points-per-game average.
    *The Bulldogs were picked to finish second in the MEAC this season in a preseason vote by the league's head coaches. In addition, Eaves and Ed Stephens were chosen to the All-MEAC Preseason Team.
   *Murray Garvin is in his fourth season at the helm of the South Carolina State program. He was the MEAC and NABC District 15 Coach of the Year last season when he led the Bulldogs to their best regular-season finish since 2005.  

A LOOK AT THE ORANGE
    *Syracuse has three players in double-figures with Graduate Student Andrew White III leading the way with 18.0 points 4.7 rebounds per game.  Tyler Robeson is second on the team with 12 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, while John Gillon adds 11 points per outing.
    *White III led the Orange with a team-high 18 points, six rebounds, four assist, and two steals in their last outing in a win over Monmouth.
    *As a team, Syracuse shot 42.4 percent (25-for-59) from the floor against the Hawks. The Orange were especially accurate in the first half, when they were 14-for-28 (50 percent) from the floor, including 5-for-13 (38.5 percent) from three-point range.
