HAMPTON, Va. – The South Carolina State Bulldogs (3-3 overall, 3-0 in the MEAC) will be on the road against host the Pirates of Hampton University (3-4, 3-2 in the MEAC) Saturday (Oct. 29) at Armstrong Stadium in Hampton, VA. Kickoff is 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: South Carolina State posted an 30-3 victory over Delaware State to improve to 3-0 in league play, while Hampton dropped a tough 31-14 decision on the road the Florida A&M this past weekend.
The Series: The Bulldogs are 11-9 versus the Pirates all-time. SC State had won each of the last eight meetings– including a 34-20 loss in Orangeburg, S.C. Hampton last defeated the Bulldogs in 2005, a 14-10 victory at Armstrong Stadium, ending a string off 11 wins in 12 meetings between the two teams. Hampton is 5-3 against the Bulldogs at Armstrong Stadium.
Players to Watch: OFFENSE: Sophomore quarterback
Caleb York leads the offense throwing 72-of-166-2 for 674 yards and five (5) touchdowns in six games. Redshirt freshman running back
Bishop Ford is the leader on the ground with 75 carries for 324 yards and two (2) touchdowns.
DEFENSE: All-American redshirt junior linebacker
Darius Leonard spearheads the defense and leads the conference in tackles with 79 (48 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss and two (2) interceptions for 64-yards. Senior defensive back
Phillip Henry ranks among the top in the league in pass breakups with eight (8). He also has 23 tackles and three (3) interceptions on the season.
Picked to Finish Fourth: The MEAC preseason poll, voted on the league's head coaches and sports information directors, picked the Bulldogs to finish fourth this season. Nine (9) Bulldogs were named to the All-MEAC Preseason Team including redshirt junior linebacker
Darius Leonard being named the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
