Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. – Tracey Carrington scored a game-high 28 points, 19 in the second half, and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to lead the Morgan State women's basketball team to a 54-46 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference win over South Carolina State on Monday night at Hill Field House.
Morgan State (9-13, 6-4 MEAC) led 15-6 after one of two free throws by Danielle Robinson with 10:45 left in the first half. SC State (13-9, 6-5 MEAC) then went on a 10-2 run to get within one (17-16) after a free throw by
Persephone Goodwin at the 8:00-minute mark.
The Lady Bulldogs got out to a four-point lead, 25-21, after a jumper by
Jamella Smith with 1:59 left, but the Lady Bears hit back-to-back buckets to tie the game at 25-all heading into halftime.
Things swung back and forth for most of the second half. SC State led 41-37 after one of two free throws by
Toni Grier with 10:19 left in the game. Carrington scored four straight points to force the seventh and final tie of the game. The Lady Bears outscored the Lady Bulldogs 17-5 to seal the win with Carrington contributing 10 points during the run.
Jasmine Coleman paced SC State with a career-high 14 points and added nine rebounds.
Amber Howard finished with nine points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists.
The Lady Bulldogs travel to Savannah, Ga. on Saturday for a 2 p.m. matchup at Savannah State University.
