TROY,Alabama—The South Carolina State men's tennis team improved to 3-1 overall, after knocking off Nicholls State 4-3 in the Troy Trojans Jamboree Saturday at Lunsford Tennis Complex in Troy, Alabama.
 
The Bulldogs fell behind early, 3-0, dropping the double points to Nicholls State.
 
Meanwhile in singles actions, senior Rodney Carey defeated  Sam Meessen (6-1, 6-7, 6-1) at the No. 1 spot; sophomore Martin Figura def. Evan Karatzas (4-6, 7-6, 6-0) at the No. 2 spot; sophomore Soufiane Mouline def. Partha Adavelly (7-5, 6-4) at the No. 3 spot while freshman Jakub Vitek defeated Max Sinn 6-3, 6-4.
 
"The guys fought really hard today and we found ourselves down 3-0," said SC State head men's tennis coach Hardeep Judge. "We rallied back to take the next four single matches with Figura clinching the match for us in three sets against Nicholls State."
 
The Troy Trojans Jamboree was cut short  Saturday (Feb. 21) and Sunday (Feb. 22) due to conflicting issues with the lights and inclement of bad weather. SC State was ahead 1-0 over Georgia Southern before the match was cancelled. Both teams will resume play on March 22.
SC State returns to action on Wednesday (Feb.25) against Gardner-Webb University in Boling Springs, NC. First serve begins at 3:30 p.m.
