Box Score NORFOLK, VA— Redshirt junior quarterback Adrian Kollock, Jr. threw for a game-high 25-of-40 for 255 yards and a touchdown to lead South Carolina State to a 17-10 victory over Norfolk State Saturday (Nov. 14) at Dick Price Stadium.

The Bulldogs improve to 6-4 overall, 5-2 in the MEAC, while the Spartans fall to 3-7 overall, 3-4 in the league under first-year head coach Latrell Scott.

"It was pretty good football game for the fans but not so good for the coaches on the sideline," said SC State head coach Buddy Pough. "It was a gut wrenching ball game and it didn't look good for us until we finally got some offense going in the fourth quarter."

Pough stated, "We been pretty awful on offense for the past six to eight quarters but I am excited we finally got it going."

It was a battle of the defenses early in the first-half with each team being held to a field goal. NSU scored first on a 41-yard field goal from Cameron Marouf at the 13:02 mark in the first quarter. Sophomore Tyler Scandrett kicked a 38-yarder early in the second quarter to tie the game 3-3.

The Spartans responded on a 27-yard pass from Greg Hankerson to Marcus Taylor with 4:13 remaining in the third quarter to move ahead 10-3. Junior full back Dondre Brown's 8-yard run with 7:36 left in regulation tied game 10-10 for the second time of the day.

SC State sealed the victory on a 4-yard run by Justin Taylor with 0:42 seconds remaining.  

The Bulldogs were led on defense by redshirt sophomore linebacker Darius Leonard with a team-high 10 tackles, while senior All-American defensive lineman Javon Hargave had a solid performance with seven (7) tackles and three (3) sacks on the day.

Next up South Carolina State closes out the season on the road Saturday (Nov.21) versus Savannah State in Savannah, GA. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
