Box Score CONWAY, SC—Sophomore running back De'Angelo Henderson rushed for a game-high 172 yards and two touchdowns to lead 5
th ranked Coastal Carolina to a ,30-3, victory over visiting South Carolina State Saturday at Brooks Stadium.
The Bulldogs fall to 1-1 overall, while the Chanticleers improved to 3-0 on the season. CCU now leads the overall series 4-0 between the two schools.
CCU jumped out to a quick 16-0 advantage early in the first quarter. Henderson scored on a 6-yard run at the 11:36 mark, while kicker Alex Carton connected on a 41-yard field goal to give the Chanticleers an early 9-0 lead.
Coastal Carolina's hard hitting defense showed up early on, as CCU took advantage of the Bulldogs errors with a 29-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Roderick Holder with 3:43 remaining in the first to make the score 16-0.
Freshman kicker
Tyler Scandrett kicked his first career collegiate field goal nailing a 25-yarder to put SC State on the board at the 5:14 mark in the second quarter. Junior quarterback Alex Ross gave CCU a 23-3 advantage on a 4-yard scamper to the end zone with 2:49 remaining before the first-half.
Henderson sealed the victory powering his way to a 32-yard touchdown run with 0:51 seconds remaining in the third quarter to give Coastal Carolina a commanding 30-3 lead over SC State.

Adrian Kollock, Jr. finished 15-of-26 for 227 yards, while junior running back Jalen "Scoot" Simmons had his first 100-yard performance on 22 carries after returning from missing the entire 2013 campaign due to shoulder injuries.

Taquan West led the receiving corps with six catches for 83 yards, while All-MEAC defensive lineman
Javon Hargrave spearheaded the defense with 10 tackles, two sacks, and four tackles for loss on the night.

Justin Hughes added eight tackles and one tackle for loss and freshman defensive end Greg Newel l finished with seven.
South Carolina State will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 20) when they host Furman University in the season home-opener the Hall of Fame game at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
