ORANGBURG, SC—SC State opted out of full gear during the morning session and donned shells and helmets in a two-hour workout session Wednesday morning at O.C. Dawson Stadium. The Bulldogs will begin two-a-day practices on Thursday in full gear for the first time during preseason workouts.
Bulldog head coach Pough called Wednesday's practice a productive one and saw some improvement on both sides of the ball.
"We didn't quite dress out in full pads, but overall we are still getting acclimated to how things are done," Pough said. The defense seems to be a little ahead at this point and we're really impressed with some of your younger guys at the linebacker and defensive back position."
"It was a pretty lively day on both sides of the ball," continued Pough. "We still have some work to do in some areas but for the most part there is a lot of hard work and enthusiasm so we just have to execute those things. I am excited about our special teams group, seems like we got some guys that can help us moving forward."
SC State will conduct its first of staggered two-a-day practices Thursday, with the morning session set for 9:30 a.m. with the evening workout scheduled for 7:10. The morning practice will be in full pads, while the evening workout will be in shells, according to Pough.
