SC State Preseason Practice Report

Bulldogs Turn Focus To Building Offense & Defense

ORANGEBURG, SC – SC State continued fall football workouts Monday with a long and spirited session. The workout was the third preseason practice and first in shoulder pads for the Bulldogs. Coach Buddy Pough's team continued to emphasize fundamentals and also worked on some team-style drills.

Pough said that his team was lively at times and excited about being out there, while getting a great deal of work on special teams. He noted he saw some players working hard trying to be better.

The Bulldogs main focus during the early morning session was improving on fundamentals along with implementing of more team style drills in on offense and defense.

"We got a lot of new guys and we are trying to get them to the point where they understand things," said Pough. "It's a good sign which means you got some pretty good recruits in but only time will tell."

"For the most part we are still in the installation stages, so we still have a long way to go. We will keep working at things to develop an idea of what we can possibly be."

SC State returns to the practice field Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday's workout will also be in shorts, shoulder pads and helmets.
