SC State Returns to Practice Field After Day Off Of Preseason Drills

Bulldogs Conduct Two Workouts

ORANGEBURG, SC – SC State, following a day off Sunday, returned to the practice field Monday with two workouts – a 9:30 morning session and a 7:10 p.m. evening drill.

"It was a pretty good morning practice after having a day off," Pough said. "We still got a lot of work to do and after today seems like we have even more, but overall we are at an even pace and things are coming together.

Some of Monday's work was devoted to correcting mistakes made in Saturday's scrimmage, the first of the preseason for the Bulldogs.

"After reviewing the film (from the scrimmage), I saw some positives and we identified some guys (newcomers) that look as though they can help this team. We still have some work to do on executing some techniques on both sides of the ball, but I think we won't have a problem correcting those things."

In Monday's evening workout, which was cut short due to bad weather but the Bulldogs were able to work on special team installations during the earlier session.

 Pough noted, "That despite the weather the special teams were able to get a lot of work done before the storm. We will now regroup and get back to work in the morning."

Pough also commented for the most part his team completed the installation of the offense and defense and now it's all about going in and fixing some things moving forward.

Despite, coming off one the best turnarounds last season at 9-4 overall, 7-1 MEAC after the worst finish at 5-6 in 2012 during the Pough era, The Boxtorow HBCU FCS coaches' poll administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW and is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches picked SC State 3rd  in the preseason poll.

The Bulldogs will return to the practice field Tuesday with an early morning session at 9:30 a.m. in full pads and Wednesday with two workouts – an early morning session at 9:30 a.m. in full pads and an evening practice at 7:10 in shells.
