DURHAM, NC – The SC State women's basketball team, idle since Monday, resumes its schedule Saturday when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Durham, NC to face NC Central in the first game of a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader, beginning at 2 p.m. The men's game will follow at approximately 4 p.m.
Coach Doug Robertson's team, 7-16 overall and 5-8 in the MEAC, is coming off a 66-62 home win over Savannah State on Monday (Feb. 22). The Lady Bulldogs will be trying to keep the host Lady Eagles from earning a sweep in this year's series. NC Central won 57-51 at Orangeburg on Feb. 15.
The Lady Eagles, 9-17 and 4-9 in the league, also last played on Monday, losing 79-51 at North Carolina A&T.
The Lady Bulldogs will be led by junior
Kourtney Williams, who is averaging 16 points and 4.3 rebounds, but has been hampered by an injury sustained against Hampton Jan. 27 which led to her missing two games and only playing sparingly in three others.
Also in double figures for SC State is graduate
Cabriel Duren with a 10.8 scoring average to go along with 4 rebounds each outing. Senior
Cherisha Floyd is the team's top rebounder with 6.3 each outing and a 6.0 scoring average.
NC Central will be led by redshirt senior guard Jessica Freeman (15.2 ppg) and 6-0 junior forward-center Racquel Davis (13.4 ppg, 9.0 rpg).
