Box Score ORANGEBURG, SC – Host South Carolina State squandered an 11-point second-half lead before rebounding to edge Savannah State 66-62 Saturday in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest. The victory enabled two Lady Bulldog seniors to go out as winners in their final game before the home crowd.

Graduate guard Cabriel Duren tossed in 23 points and Mykala Jones came off the bench for 15 points, including six in the final three minutes, in the win, which snapped a two-game losing streak for Coach Doug Robertson's squad.

Cherisha Floyd, one of two SC State seniors honored on "Senior Day," led SC State on the boards with nine and added five points. DayShaun Richbow, the other senior honored, chipped in seven points.

"We talked before the game about sending our seniors out as winners on 'Senior Day'," said Robertson. "It's a tradition. We were able to do it last year and I'm happy we got a win for this year's seniors in their last game before the home crowd."

Savannah State, having its best season since moving to Division 1, had four players in double figures in the loss, which dropped the Lady Tigers to 15-12 and 8-5 in the MEAC. Jasmine Norman and Kenyata Hendrix had 16 points each, while Ezinne Kalu added 13 and Bria Dorsey 10. Tiyonda Davis, who was scoreless in the contest, had nine rebounds for the visitors.

The Lady Bulldogs, who had lost seven of their last eight before improving to 7-16 overall and 5-8 in league play with the win, led by as many as 13 points – 32-19 – in the first half, before taking only a 32-29 lead to the locker room.

SC State regained its momentum to start to second half, using a 12-4 run to build another double-digit lead at 44-33 when Richbow made one of two from the line with 14:24 left. But Savannah State chipped away at the lead and finally pulled ahead 56-55 on a layup by Norman with 4:11 remaining.

The Lady Bulldogs regained the lead, 58-56, on a three-point play by Jones with 3:29 left, before Kirkland's layup deadlocked the game at 58-all with 3:18 showing. Following an SC State turnover, Savannah State went ahead 60-58 on a Dorsey layup with 2:50 showing.

SC State went to Jones again and she delivered with a 3-pointer to put the host ahead 61-60 at the 2:32 mark. The teams exchanged turnovers before Richbow got a short jumper to give the Lady Bulldogs a 63-60 edge with 1:15 on the clock. Duren added a free throw for SC State to make it 64-60 but a layup by Hendrix pulled Savannah State to within 64-62 with just 28 seconds left.

Following an SC State turnover on the inbounds pass, the visitors took time out to set up a tying or winning shot but Kalu's 3-point attempt with :02 left was short and Duren, after being fouled, added two free throws for the final margin – 66-62.
