SC State Opens Three-Game Home-Stand against North Carolina Central

SC State will host North Carolina Central
Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's basketball team will host North Carolina Central in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest, tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m.  This will be the first of three straight home conference matchups for the Lady Bulldogs, who will host North Carolina A&T on Monday (Feb. 16) and Savannah State next Saturday (Feb. 22).  All contests will be played at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on the campus of SC State. 
 
SC State enters the contest at 6-14 overall and 4-6 in the MEAC.  In their last outing (Saturday, Feb. 8), the Lady Bulldogs defeated Delaware State by four, 64-60.  Graduate Cabriel Duren led all scorers with 21 points.  Duren also pulled in seven rebounds with five assists and four steals in the contest.  Senior Cherisha Floyd and junior transfer Brittany Andersen pulled in eight rebounds each to lead SC State in the victory.
 
Junior guard Kourtney Williams is leading SC State in scoring averaging 16.8 points per outing.  Duren is also averaging double-figures at 10.3 points per outing.  Senior Cherisha Floyd leads the team in rebounding at 5.7 boards per outing.
 
North Carolina Central comes into tomorrow's contest with an 8-15 overall record and 3-7 MEAC bill.  The Lady Eagles fell to Florida A&M 63-70 in their last contest on Monday (Feb. 10).  Jessica Freeman and Racquel Davis are leading the team in scoring, averaging 15.3 and 13.2 respectively.  Tiffany Gary leads the Lady Eagles in rebounding at 6.7 boards per game.
 
The Lady Bulldogs will hit the road for its final three regular season contests beginning Saturday, March 1 when they travel to Durham, N.C. to face North Carolina Central.  SC State will then travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take on North Carolina A&T on Monday, March 3 before closing out the regular season at Savannah State on Thursday, March 5.
