LUBBOCK, TX—South Carolina State (3-7 overall, 2-0 MEAC) will begin the first of a five-game road swing against Big 12 foe Texas Tech in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic Wednesday at the United Supermarkets Arena. Tipoff is 7 p.m. (CST) and 8 p.m. (EST)
INSIDE THE GAME: The Bulldogs are coming off tough 43-57 defeat to Coast Carolina on Sunday (Dec. 14) at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. SC State shot a season low 30.8% from the field.
Meanwhile, Texas Tech is off to an amazing start with a 7-1 overall record. The Red Raiders knocked off Prairie View (79-51) and Fresno State (73-56) in their last two outings. Devaugnta Williams leads the team in scoring with 11.3 per contest, while Norense Odiase is second with 10.3 ppg.

Edward Stephens earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week honors the league announced Monday. Stephens tallied 15.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.6 assists against Bethune-Cookman, College of Charleston and Coastal Carolina. He dropped in 26 points, on 7-of-12 shooting, and five 3-pointers in a 71-66 victory over Bethune-Cookman to earn the MEAC Rookie of the Week accolade.
Looking Ahead: SC State closes out the year with the second of their five-road games, with stops at the University of Houston (12/20/14) in Houston, TX, The Las Vegas Classic in Las Vegas, NV (Abilene Christian University 12/22 and Arkansas Pine Bluff 12/23) before closing out with Fordham University (12/31) in New York, NY.
