ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will host the Columbia International Rams in a non-conference matchup Tuesday at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is 8 p.m. immediately following the women's contest between USC-Upstate.
The Bulldogs will be looking for their first win of the season after returning from a three-game road swing. SC State suffered defeats to University of Washington (59-77), San Francisco (52-91) and University of Virginia (55-75) in their first outings.
Sophomore guard
Karon Wright leads the way for the Bulldogs with 14 points per outing, while teammate
Greg Mortimer chips in 8.7 points and 3.0 rebounds. Junior forward
Darryl Palmer is the leader on the boards with 5.7 rebounds and 5.3 points.
Meanwhile, CIU is coming off back-to-back losses to Peace University (78-90) and Averett University (68-85) in the Averett Classic held in Danville, VA.
South Carolina State will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Statesboro, GA to battle Georgia Southern in a non-conference matchup at Hanner Fieldhouse. Tipoff is 2:30 p.m.
