SC State Opens Three-Game Road Swing Against Florida A&M

SC State Face FAMU in MEAC Matchup
Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's basketball team will hit the road against Florida A&M in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest, this Saturday, Feb. 1 at 4 p.m.  This will be the first of three straight road conference matchups for the Lady Bulldogs, who will travel to Bethune-Cookman on Monday (Feb. 3), and Delaware State next Saturday, (Feb. 8).  This will also be the second meeting in two weeks. The teams met in Orangeburg on January 18 with the Lady Bulldogs coming away with a 68-57 victory.

SC State enters the contest at 5-12 overall and 3-4 in the MEAC.  In their last outing (Monday, Jan. 27), the Lady Bulldogs fell to Hampton, 47-78, in a MEAC matchup in Orangeburg.  SC State was led in scoring by Dayshaun Richbow with nine points.  Richbow pulled in six rebounds and three assists for the Lady Bulldogs. Lynasia Frazier and Cherisha Floyd scored eight points each.  Floyd also pulled in seven rebounds in the loss.
 
Florida A&M brings a 9-11 overall record and 3-4 MEAC bill into the contest.  In their last outing, Saturday, Jan. 25, the Lady Rattlers snapped a two-game losing streak with an 87-42 win over Howard University.  Jasmine Grice scored a game high 34 points.  Kimberly Sparkman added 26 points and Taneka Rubin finished with 11.  Both Tierra Prothro and Rubin finished with eight boards each to lead the Lady Rattlers.
 
Note:  SC State leading scorer Kourtney Williams, who suffered an injury in the Lady Bulldogs last contest versus Hampton, status for the FAMU game is unknown at this time.
