Bulldogs Host Rival Aggies In A Pivotal MEAC Showdown

SC State looking to snap 25-game conference losing streak.

Senior guard Khalif Toombs the lone senior will be honored Saturday on "Senior Night" with five other Lady Bulldog players.
ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State Bulldogs (4-18, 0-9 MEAC) will host conference rival the N.C. A&T Aggies (13-12 overall, 6-4 MEAC) in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic showdown, Saturday at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tip-off is 6 p.m., immediately following the women's contest.
       The Bulldogs under the leadership of newly appointed head coach Murray Garvin will be seeking their first conference of the season. SC State came up short in their last outing falling 50-46 to third-ranked Savannah State in a close defensive battle last week in Savannah, GA.
        Junior forward Matthew Hezekiah leads the way for the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding with 13.6 ppg and 7.7 rbg, while senior point guard Khalif Toombs is second with 11.7 points per outing, while dishing out 5.2 assists. Toombs the lone senior on the team will be honored on “Senior Day” Saturday along with five Lady Bulldogs.
        The Aggies led by former SC State head coach Cy Alexander enters the contest winning the last 4-of-5 league games. N.C. A&T currently ranked fifth in the conference is led by Lamont Middleton with 13.2 per game, while teammate, Adrian Powell adds 12.6 per outing and 5.0 rebounds.  Austin Witter leads the team in rebounding with 7.3.
         SC State will return to action on Monday when they host a talented NC Central Eagle team at S-H-M Center. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., following the women's contest.
