SC State Looks To Rebound On The Road Against Savannah St.

—The South Carolina State Bulldogs (5-3 overall, 3-1 MEAC) will look to get back on the winning track this weekend, when they travel to Savannah, GA to take on struggling Savannah State Tiger (1-8 overall, 0-5 in the league) Saturday at T.A. Wright Stadium . Kickoff is 2 p.m.

Coach Pough and the Bulldogs are currently tied for second place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic (MEAC) at 3-1 with Hampton University. The Bulldogs suffered a tough 14-3 loss to # 12 nationally-ranked (FCS) Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Redshirt senior quarterback Richard Cue leads the passing attack for SC State throwing 97-of-176 for eight touchdowns and six interceptions on the season. Redshirt freshman running back Justin Taylor is the leading rusher with 125 carries for 411 yards and six touchdowns.

Senior Tyler McDonald became SC State's All-Time Career Reception Leader (142) surpassing Oliver (Tre') Young who previously held the record of 135. McDonald (2,082) needs 75-yards to become the Career Yardage Leader with 2,156, passing current leader Oliver (Tre') Young (2006-09)

McDonald leads the receiving corps with 34 catches for 641 yards and five touchdowns, while senior Caleb Davis is second with 22 catches for 253 yards and three touchdowns. Senior linebacker Joe Thomas spearheads the defense with 80 tackles (57 solo) and 11 TFL and four sacks.

Despite, the tough loss to BC-U on last week the Bulldogs remain in the top five of every league category.

SC State ranks in the # 1 in Scoring Offense (28.8); # 2 in Scoring Defense (16.5); # 3 in Total Offense (342.1); # 2 in Total Defense (275.6); # 1 in Rushing Defense (94.1); # 2 in Pass Efficiency (122.5); # 2 in Pass Defense Efficiency (98.4); # 2 in Punting (36.6);# 1 in Sacks (38-236 yards); # 1 in Sacks Against (10-43 yards) just to name a few.

The Bulldogs will return to action on next week when they host visiting Rattlers of Florida A&M in a pivotal MEAC showdown. SC State will be celebrating "Homecoming 2013" with the kickoff beginning at 1:30 p.m.
