SC State Basketball Teams Play Final Home Game Of Regular Season Tonight

Box Score ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams will close out their final regular season home games tonight, when they host NC Central in a pivotal MEAC doubleheader. Tipoff is 5:30 p.m., with the men following immediately after.
       Coach Tim Carter and the Bulldogs (5-23 overall, 0-14 MEAC) will look to post their first conference win of the year against a talented and scrappy Eagle (14-14 overall, 8-6 MEAC) team. In their last outing, SC State suffered a tough 79-75 defeat to league rival N.C. A&T State on Saturday, while NC Central dropped a heartbreaker to Savannah State 60-47 in Savannah, Ga.
        Senior Brandon Riley leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 17.6 ppg, 3.9 rbg, while senior forward Omar Sanders and junior point guard Khalif Toombs is averaging a little over 10.5 points per outing. Sanders lead the team in rebounding with 8.0 boards per game.
        On the women's side, the Lady Bulldogs (11-14 overall, 6-8 MEAC) will be looking to snap a three-game losing skid after suffering a 101-61 routing to the hands of the Lady Aggies of N.C. A&T State on Saturday.
        SC State women's team is led by junior guard Tiara Knotts with 13.0 points per game, while forward's Paris Alston, Tracey Flowers, and guards Cabriel Duran and Trinese Fox is each averaging over 8.0 points per outing. Junior forward/center Tiana Hemphill leads the team in rebounding with 8.4 on the season.
       The Lady Bulldogs will attempt a season sweep of the Lady Eagles (3-24 overall, 1-13 in the MEAC), when SC State defeated NC Central 78-52 (2/13/12) in Durham, NC.
      Both teams will hit the road this weekend to wrap of regular season play against Delaware State on Thursday, March 1, in Dover, DE. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men.
