Bulldogs Set To Battle ACC Foe Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, MD—The South Carolina State men's basketball will be in action on Saturday when they battle the ACC foe University of Maryland in a non-conference matchup at the Comcast Arena. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

SATURDAY'S GAME BASICS:
The South Carolina State Bulldogs (4-4) of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) enters this week's contest facing ACC for the University of Maryland Terrapins (7-1). The Bulldogs are seeking their first ever win over an ACC opponent under the tenure of head coach Tim Carter. Meanwhile, the two teams will be meeting for the second time in school history with Maryland leading the series 1-0, in the previous the Terps won 104-70, on Dec. 27, 1998
 
ABOUT SC STATE
South Carolina State enters the contest with an 4-4 mark on the season and will be looking to get back into the win column with an major upset over ACC foe Maryland. The Bulldogs is led in scoring by senior point guard Khalif Toombs with 15.5 ppg, and 3.1 rebounds, while backcourt mate JUCO transfer Adama “Louis” Adams is second with 14.6 per game. Junior center Matthew Hezekiah is the force in the paint with three double-doubles in seven games. Hezekiah leads the frontcourt with 12.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, and 2.2 blocks per game.
 
ABOUT MARYLAND
Maryland is off to a 7-1 mark thus far this season with the Terps dropping a tough 72-69 season-opener to Defending National Champion --Kentucky (11/9/12). The Terps are on a six-game
winning streak and is coming off a 100-68 thrashing of MEAC foe university of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
 
COACHES—The bulldogs head coach TIM CARTER is in his sixth season at the helm, while MARYLAND'S coach MARK TURGEON is in his 2nd season as head coach of the Terps and hold a 273-175 (15th Season) career and 23-16 At Maryland.
