SC State Looks To Break Losing Skid Against Morgan State In MEAC Home-Opener

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will open up with their first conference game of the year Saturday when they host Morgan State at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff for the women is 2 p.m., with the men following at 4 p.m.
         The Bulldogs(4-10 overall, 0-1 MEAC) dropped it's eight-straight contest in a tough 79-51 loss to intrastate rival South Carolina on Tuesday, while the Bears (2-9) dropped its second-straight after suffering losses to  Saint Joseph's (81-50) and San Francisco (87-74).
          Freshman forward Luka Radvoic scored a game-high 15 points in the loss to SEC foe USC, while freshman guard Devin Joint grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Senior guard Brandon Riley leads SC State in scoring with 17.3 ppg and 4.1 rpg, while junior point guard Khalif Toombs is second with 11.6 ppg. Senior forward Omar Sanders leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 per outing, while scoring 10.1 ppg.
           Morgan State is led by All-MEAC center Kevin Thompson with 13.6 ppg and 8.4 rpg, while teammate and All-Conference forward DeWayne Jackson adds 10.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per outing.
           SC State will return to action on Monday when they host Coppin State in a pivotal MEAC showdown. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m., following the women's game.
