HAMPTON,VA—The South Carolina State (4-15 overall, 0-6 MEAC) men's basketball team will be on the road searching for their first conference win of the season against a tough and talented Hampton Pirate (6-13 overall, 2-4 MEAC) team. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at HU Convocation Center on the campus of Hampton University.
       SC State enters tonight contest after suffering a tough 83-53 defeat to Savannah State on Saturday, meanwhile Hampton dropped a tough decision to rival Norfolk State 80-75.
       Senior guard Brandon Riley leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 16 ppg and 4.4 rpg, while junior point guard Khalif Toombs is second with 11.3 ppg, 3.3 apg. Senior forward Omar Sanders leads team in rebounding with 7.6 per outing, while chipping in 10.6 per contest.
      All-MEAC senior guard Darrion Pellum with 18.8 ppg and 3.9 rpg leads the Pirates, while teammate David Bruce leads the team in rebounding with 8.6 per game, while scoring 10.6 per outing.
    SC State will return to action on Monday, January 30, when they host Howard University in an exciting doubleheader. Tipoff for the women's contest is 5:30 p.m., with the men beginning immediately after at 7:30 p.m.
