SC State Basketball Teams On The Road Aganist Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA—The South Carolina State basketball teams will be on the road this weekend when they travel to the sunshine state to take on the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman in an MEAC doubleheader. Tip-off for the women's game is 2 p.m., with the men following at 4 p.m.
           In their last outing the Lady Bulldogs posted a huge 62-49 victory over Norfolk State, to avenge an earlier season loss to the Lady Spartans in Norfolk, VA.
          Coach Doug Robertson Lady Bulldogs (8-16 overall, 3-10 MEAC) are led in scoring by senior guard/forward Whitney Wiley with 10.8 ppg and a team-leading 46 steals. Newcomer and junior forward/center Fannie Goodwin adds depths in the post with 7.5 ppg and leads the team in rebounding with 6.5  rpg, while sophomore guard Tiara Knotts chips in a little over 8.3 points per contest.,                 
        Meanwhile, South Carolina State (8-19, 4-10 MEAC) nipped out a 64-62 nail-biter over Norfolk State on Monday.  SC State is led in by senior guard/forward Darnell Porter with 11.6 ppg and 4.1 rpg, while junior guard Brandon Riley is second with 10.1 points per contest, junior Omar Sanders and Joe Ikhinmwin ,sophomore guard Khalif Toombs, and senior guard Tyvon Williams is chipping in a little over 7.1 per outing.
      The first-placed Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (17-11 overall, 11-3 MEAC) is led by ALL-MEAC guard C.J. Reed who tosses in 19.2 ppg, while Garrius Holloman and Alexander Starling both adds11.0 points per outing.
             SC State will return to action on Monday when they travel  to face conference foe Florida A&M in tough and heated MEAC doubleheader with the women's contest beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the men following at 7:30 p.m.
