SC State Travels to Take on Intrastate Rival South Carolina in Men’s Basketball Action Tuesday

COLUMBIA, SC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team (4-8) will return to action Tuesday when they take on SEC foe the South Carolina Gamecocks (8-4). Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena, with the contest televised on Fox Sports Carolinas.

- SC State is in its 91st season of basketball.
- Tuesday's contest vs. South Carolina is the last regular season non-conference matchup for the Bulldogs before the start of MEAC play on Saturday vs. Maryland Eastern Shore.
-Fourth-year head coach Tim Carter owns an all-time record of 52-56 at the helm of the Bulldog program.
- SC State enters Tuesday's matchup with a 4-8 overall record. The Bulldogs have not played since a Dec. 23 loss to Longwood in Las Vegas.
- Only senior guard Darnell Porter averages double figures for SCSU, posting 13.3 points per contest. Junior forward Omar Sanders paces the team in rebounds (6.6 pg) and blocks (1.3 pg).
- SC State is winless in four road contests this season. The last Bulldog win, home or away, came in a Dec. 8 meeting with Voorhees. SCSU collected a 96-50 win in that contest, with the 96 points being its highest scoring output of the season.

- Third-year head coach Darrin Horn owns an all-time record of 97-20 (.829) in home contests and has led South Carolina to a 34-9 (.790) home record during his two-plus seasons in Columbia.
- Freshman guard Bruce Ellington led four Gamecocks in double figures with 21 points
- his fourth 20-point effort of the season - vs. BC. Malik Cooke added 13 points, Lakeem Jackson 12 and Ramon Galloway 15.
- Galloway has scored double figures in three-straight games, averaging 13.7 points per contest in the stretch.
- Senior forward Sam Muldrow collected his second double-double of the season and the third of his career with 11 points and 11 rebounds vs. Jacksonville State, while also blocking three shots, a team-best.
- Carolina's 5.6 blocked shots per game rank seventh in the SEC, with Muldrow fourth (2.3).
- South Carolina owns a 19-1 (.950) all-time record against current schools in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, with its most common opponent being SC State, whom the Gamecocks own a 16-0 all-time record against. The Gamecocks are undefeated in home contests vs. the conference. Carolina's lone loss against a MEAC school came against Coppin State in the 1997 NCAA Tournament.
