SC State Women’s Basketball Defeats Norfolk State, 63-51, in Women’s Basketball

Snaps a Two-Game Losing Streak

Norfolk, VA—The SC State women's basketball team ended a two game losing streak as they defeated Norfolk State, 63-51, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matchup in Echols  Hall on the campus of Norfolk State University.
 
Senior Sophilia Hipps, who scored a game-high 23 points (50% from behind the three point arc), led the way for SC State who improved to 9-17 overall and 4-10 in the MEAC. Whitney Wiley was the only other Lady Bulldog to score in double-figures with 13. Junior Joi Walker had a balanced game as she scored eight points with six rebounds two steals and one block in the victory. 
 
Norfolk State had three players to score in double-figures led by Whitney Long with 16. Genor Dalton scored 12 points with eight rebounds and Batavia Owens scored 10 points with eight rebounds as the Spartans fell to 4-19 overall and 0-13 in the MEAC.
 
SC State will close out the 2009-2010 regular season with a three-game home-stand beginning this Saturday, Feb. 27 when they host Bethune-Cookman. The Lady Bulldogs will then face Florida A&M (3-1-10) and close-out the season with Winston-Salem State on (3-4-10).
