Tallahassee, FL---The SC State women's basketball team fell to Florida A&M, 53-68, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) match-up in the Al Lawson Center on the campus of Florida A&M.
FAMU (12-7, 4-4 MEAC) opened the game with a 22-5 run. The Lady Rattlers increased its lead to 24-9 before SC State (6-14, 1-7 MEAC) used a 24-4 run to get back into the game. The run allowed the Lady Bulldogs to pull within seven of the Lady Rattlers late in the first half, 21-28. FAMU increased its lead to ten by the half, 21-31.
SC State picked up its intensity to start the second half as they managed to keep Florida A&M within nine points mid-way through the half. The Lady Rattlers would increase their lead to 16, 41-57 at the 11:53 mark and maintained a double-digit lead throughout, eventually going on the win by 15, 68-53.
Tameka McKelton scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Lady Rattlers and Qiana Donald recorded a double-double with 11 points-14 rebounds in the victory.
SC State will open a brief two-game home stand on Saturday, Feb. 6 when they host Hampton University. The Lady Bulldogs will then host Howard University on Monday, Feb. 8. Tip-off for Saturday's game is set for 2 p.m. It will be the annual Pink Zone game in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.
