East Defeats West 24-16 In HBCU Classic

ATLANTA, GA—For the second-straight year the East HBCU All-Star team has defeated the West HBCU team 24-16 in the Second Annual HBCU All-Star Classic Saturday at the Georgia Dome, Atlanta GA.
       The East coached by legendary coach Joe Taylor of Florida A&M leads the series 2-0 over West who is coached by Willie Slater of Tuskegee University.
     The Russell Athletic HBCU All-Star Bowl, is the nation's premier senior all-star game, selects the top 100 draft-eligible seniors (including 10 alternate players) from all HBCU Football Conferences, the MEAC, SWAC, SIAC, and CIAA to participate in the nation's premier Senior All-Star Game.
      Seven seniors from the 2010 SC State football squad participated in the contest and played for the East squad. Bulldogs participated in the contest were quarterback Malcolm Long, offensive linemen Johnny Culbreath and Josh Harrison, linebackers David Erby, Marshall McFadden and Julius Wilkerson, and defensive back Semaj Moody.
      This year's game featured the Best of the Best in HBCU Football. Scouts from the NFL, CFL, UFL, and Area Football evaluated the quality of players available during a one day Official Combine administered by National Football Scouting, of Indianapolis, Indiana The 2010 NFL Draft produced (2) two HBCU draft picks and (16)sixteen HBCU Football Student Athletes signed free-agent agreements. Each of these eighteen (18) players were participants in the 2009 Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl.
