ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State will be looking for its third straight victory this season as they host the visiting Paladins of Furman University in a men's non-conference matchup Tuesday at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m., following the women's game at 5:30 p.m.
Coach Tim Carter and the Bulldogs enter the contest with a 2-1 overall record and having defeated Carver Bible College in a tough non-conference battle 69-67. Meanwhile, Furman who is also 2-1 on the season is coming off a heartbreaking 78-74 overtime loss to Kent State on last week.
The Bulldogs is led in scoring by senior guard/forward
Darnell Porter (6-4, 180, Long Beach, CA) with 17.3 ppg and 5.0 rbg. JUCO transfer
Brandon Riley(6-2, 180, Eatonton, Ga) is second in scoring with 12.7 ppg, while senior forward
Rio Pitt (6-7, 215, Amityville, NY) adds 10.3 ppg and grabs 7.7 rebounds per contest.
Furman is led by Amu Saaka with 17.7 ppg and 8.0 rebounds. Noah States is second with 14.7 ppg and 5.7 rbg, while Darryl Johnson rounds out the top three with 12.7 ppg, and 3.7 rebounds.
Next up SC State will travel to Clemson, SC to take on ACC foe Clemson University Friday in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
