GREENSBORO, NC—The #12 South Carolina State Bulldogs will face conference rival N.C. A&T in the final regular season game of the season Saturday at Aggie Stadium in Greensboro, NC. Kick-off is at 1:30 p.m.
Coach Pough's Bulldogs will look to make the third-straight appearance in the FCS Division I-AA playoffs with a win over N.C. A&T. This will be a tough task for the Bulldogs and despite a 1-9 overall, 1-6 MEAC record the Aggies will be looking to play spoiler against the two-time defending MEAC Champs.
Several Bulldog players will be playing their final game against N.C. A&T including 2010 Defense Player of the Year
David Erby and Offense Lineman of the Year Josh Harrison just to name a few.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 32-10 victory over Morgan State on last Thursday in Baltimore, MD. Meanwhile, N.C. A&T suffered a tough 22-19 defeat in overtime to Florida A&M in their last outing.
Rankings: Nationally, the Bulldogs are ranked in several NCAA statistical categories. They remained No.1 in total defense (192.2 ypg), pass defense (127.5 ypg) and rushing defense (64.7 ypg). The team is second in both scoring defense (14 ppg) and first downs allowed (.pg) and third in pass efficiency defense (49.8).
The Polls: Coach Buddy Pough's continues its high National ranking. SC State is No.11 in the latest FCS Coaches Poll and 12th in the Sports Network rankings. In the HBCU polls, the Bulldogs are second in both the Heritage Sports Network and Box-to-Box polls and third in the SBN and Black Athlete.com media listings.
Bulldog Bites: Two members of the team have set or tied school records. QB Malcolm Long is now the school's all-time leader career total offense leader with 6,673 yards and he is tied for career touchdown with 44. Placekicker Blake Erickson is the career field goal leader with 34 for his career, eclipsing the mark set by Al Gardner (30) 1980-83.
