SC State To Host Norfolk St. On Youth & ROTC Day

ORANGEBURG, SC--  South Carolina State University in conjunction with the Office of Admissions will host The 2010 Youth and ROTC Day Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium, located on the campus of South Carolina State University.

    This year's theme is “Preparing the Next Generation of Scholars: One Student at a Time!” During this year's event Youth and ROTC participants will have the opportunity to engage in a pre-game pep rally and get a glimpse of our very own MEAC champion cheerleaders and meet the “baddest band in the land,” the Marching 101. 

 During the afternoon, the defending MEAC Champions SC State University Bulldogs will take on the Norfolk State University Spartans in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic showdown beginning at 2 p.m. Both events will take place at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. Also, rapper Young Dro will also perform live during Youth Day events. Young Dro is an Atlanta native and T.I.'s protégé, with popular hit songs such as “Shoulda Lean,” “Rubber band Banks” and “Take Off.”

Registration begins at 8 a.m. for participants between the ages of three and 10 and will take place at the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium practice field. For participants between the ages of 11 and 17, registration will take place at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium. ROTC registration will be held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, located on the campus of SC State.

Youth and ROTC Day activities will begin at 9 a.m. in various locations on the campus.  Participants age's three to 10 will engage in recreational activities during the Bulldog Challenge. The Office of Student Life and Leadership and Campus Activities Board will also present activities for participants ages 11 through 17 at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.  ROTC activities will be in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium. 

Ticket prices are $10 for youth between the ages of one and 17. There will be one chaperone ticket for $10 per group. General Admission tickets will be $25 and there are still tickets available upon arrival to the game. All prepaid tickets must be picked up before game day.  Boxed lunches may be purchased from Popeye's.
