ORANGEBURG, SC – The SC State women's basketball team will closeout its 2009-10 non-conference season, tomorrow (Jan. 4, 2010), at Savannah State. The contest, which is set for a 7 p.m. tip, will be contested at Tiger Arena on the campus of Savannah State University in Savannah, GA.
Tomorrow's matchup will the second of two meetings between SC State (4-7) and Savannah State (8-9). In their earlier meeting (11-15-09), the Lady Bulldogs outlasted the Lady Tigers, 60-50, in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. SC State had three players to score in double-figures led by Sophilia Hipps with 18. Joi Walker and Paris Alston scored 12 and 10 points respectively and Walker and Tiana Hemphill led the team in rebounding with eight.
SC State will open its 2009-10 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) season on the road at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, Jan. 9. The Lady Bulldogs will closeout its eight-game road swing next Monday, when they face the Lady Hornets of Delaware State in Dover, DE. SC State will host Coppin State on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. in its MEAC home-opener.
