DOVER, DE – South Carolina State will wrap up a two-game, four-day Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference road swing Monday when it meets Delaware State at Memorial Hall in a league doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m. with the women's contest.
The SC State women (5-8, 0-1) will be trying to rebound from Saturday's 82-69 loss to MEAC foe Maryland-Eastern Shore. Sophomore Whitney Wiley had 18 points and six rebounds and senior Sophilia Hipps added 17 points in the loss.
The Delaware State women (2-12, 0-1), meanwhile, snapped a 12-game losing streak with a 53-39 triumph over visiting Winston-Salem State. Selena Galloway led the way for the Lady Hornets with 14 points.
The SC State men (7-5, 1-0) hope to get off to a 2-0 start in the MEAC with a victory over the Hornets (5-7, 0-1). The Bulldogs captured their league opener Saturday with an 80-67 victory at Maryland-Eastern Shore behind 17 points by JUCO Darnell Porter and 15 points each by seniors Jason Flagler and Arsenio Williams.
The host Hornets were also victorious Saturday, coming from behind for a 48-47 last-second victory over Winston-Salem State. Marcus Neal had 20 points for Delaware State, which snapped a six-game slide with the win.
