Tim Langford is in his second season as the head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams at South Carolina State University

Langford came to SC State from Charleston Southern University where he brought a resurgence of success to the Buccaneer men’s program. Under Langford’s direction, Charleston Southern experienced several consecutive years of national championship appearances. Langford seeks to continue this success for the Bulldogs.

While at CSU, Langford also served as the Big South Conference Track Coaches’ Committee Chair and the NCAA Executive Committee Representative, one of the youngest coaches to hold either position in the NCAA. In 2008 he was invited to the emerging elite coaches’ clinic at the US Olympic Training Center and has been a guest speaker at several collegiate clinics.

*2009 NCAA Division I Cross Country All-Academic TeamHis 4x200m relay also ran the fastest time in the world in 2010 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.

Prior to coaching at Charleston Southern, Langford spent two seasons at High Point University in High Point, NC. As the assistant cross country and track and field coach at High Point, Langford helped the Panthers attain the first ever Division I conference championship in cross country. Langford also helped lead the Panthers in attaining numerous individual conference champions and all-conference performances; ranging from the sprints, jumps, and relays. In fact, Langford's Women's 4x400 meter relay team never lost a conference championship while under his leadership. Langford's athletes also set several Big South Conference meet records; the 4x400 meter relay, and the women's long jump to mention a few. Prior to coaching at High Point, Langford coached at his alma matter, Heritage High School.

After graduating from Radford University, Langford returned to Heritage High School to be an assistant coach in track & field and men’s basketball. In the season he served as an assistant, the Pioneers had several state qualifiers in the jumps as well as making it to the state final four in basketball.

Langford is a 2000 graduate of Radford University. At Radford he competed in the Big South Conference where he became the school’s first conference champion in track and field. He set the Big South Conference record in the high jump at 6’10.75”; A record that stood for over five years. Other achievements at Radford include: School Record Holder in the long jump, triple jump, high jump, 4x100m relay & 4x400m relay, all-conference (Top-3 finish) in the high jump, triple jump, 4x100m relay, & 4x400m relay. He also scored points for the Highlanders in the long jump, 110m hurdles, and the distance medley relay. He was the team captain and MVP every year and won all but one title in the high jump.

Langford is a 1996 graduate of Heritage High School in Lynchburg, Va. were he is a hall of fame inductee. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.

Langford is married to Lisa Holmes-Langford and has one daughter, Brittany.
