Sophomore Demek Kemp of Monroe, GA,  earned a spot in the field in the 100 meters (6.55 p.m. Thursday) and long jump (3:30 p.m. Thursday). Kemp, who is participating in the preliminary round for the second time in as many years, ranks 27^th nationally in the 100 meters (10.37) and 40^th in the long jump (7.52m). Both marks came at the May 5-7 MEAC Track and Field Championships at Greensboro, NC where Coach Tim Langford’s team was seventh in a 13-team field.
