ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State University football team open its 2016 preseason training camp Friday (Aug. 5) at 9:30 a.m. at  Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium. Bulldog head coach Buddy Pough, who is entering his 15^th season at the helm, and his staff will welcome 95 players.

The Bulldogs report to campus on Thursday (Aug. 4) before hitting the field for the first time Friday to begin preparations for the upcoming season, which kicks off Saturday, Sept. 3 against Central Florida in Orlando, Fla.

SC State will practice in helmets and shorts the first two practices -- Friday and Saturday, before adding shells in their morning session workouts on Sunday and Monday.

Bulldog drills are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. the first five days of camp before the first two-a-day session (9:30 a.m. and 7:10 .m.) on Wednesday.  SC State will conduct two scrimmages during preseason camp on Aug. 13 (3:10 p.m.) and Aug. 20 (10 a.m.) at O. C. Dawson Stadium.

SC State will hold its Media/Picture Day on Saturday, Aug. 13, beginning at 9 a.m. The annual "Meet the Players Day," hosted by The S.T.A.T.E Club, is set for Saturday, Aug. 20 at 12 p.m. More details on these events will be released later.
