ORANGEBURG, SC– South Carolina State linebacker Darius Leonard and offensive lineman Javarius Leamon were named to the 2016 STATS FCS Preseason All-American Team, announced Monday (Aug. 2) by STATS LLC.
 
Javarius Leamon received second-team honors while, the 2016 MEAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year Darius Leonard was named to the third-team.

Leamon (6-7, 310, redshirt senior, OL, Woodruff, SC) spearheaded an offensive line that allowed an MEAC-best 10 sacks in 2015. SC State finished third amongst MEAC programs in total offense (357.6 ypg) and fourth in rushing offense (152.1 ypg). He was also named to the 2016 All-MEAC Preseason first team.

Leonard (6-3, 200, redshirt junior, LB, Lake View, SC) a second-year All-MEAC performer and the 2013 MEAC Rookie of the Year, finished the 2015 campaign recording 70 total tackles, one forced fumble, one recovered fumble, two quarterback hurries, four passes deflected and two breakups. He notched two interceptions, one for a touchdown and 13.5 tackles for a loss. The 2016 All-MEAC Preseason first-teamer was second on the team in sacks (5) and interceptions.
