Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C. – After being down by 21 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the South Carolina State women's basketball team rallied to get within three points (65-62) with four seconds left in the game, but ended up falling 67-62 at Charleston Southern on Sunday at the Buc Dome.
In the fourth quarter, SC State (3-3) scored more points (32) than it did in the other three quarters combined (30). The Lady Bulldogs shot 61 percent from the field (11-of-18), made nine of 13 free throws, outrebounded CSU 14-8 and forced four turnovers in the final 10 minutes of the game.
CSU (4-2) led 25-13 after the first quarter and went into halftime with a 38-26 lead. The Buccaneers limited SC State to just four points in the third quarter, before being outscored 32-16 in the final period.
Rachel Burns had team-highs of 16 points and nine rebounds for CSU.
Jahmia Bradley had career-highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds for SC State. She was 5-of-11 from the field in the contest and went 13-for-15 from the free throw line. At one point in the game, Bradley connected on 10 straight free throws.
Bryeasha Blair also finished with 24 points and added six rebounds, five steals and four assists in 40 minutes.
Brittany Drumgoole and
JaQuanna Murray had five and four points, respectively.
The Lady Bulldogs get an week-long break for final exams and return to action on Monday, Dec. 12 when they host USC Upstate at 6 p.m.
