SC State Women’s Basketball Adds Two More for 2015-16 Season

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – South Carolina State head women's basketball coach Doug Robertson announced Monday the signing of two more student-athletes who will play for the Lady Bulldogs in the upcoming season. They are five-foot-ten guard/forward Imani Lewis (Suffolk, Va./Kings Fork HS) and 5-9 guard Bria Ratliff (Lilburn, Ga./Georgia Highland CC).

Lewis earned Second Team Virginia High School League Group 4A All-Region and All-Ironclad Conference First-Team honors as a senior at Kings Fork HS last year, while averaging 15.8 points, six rebounds, five assists and three blocks per game during the regular season. Lewis played for Maurice Fofanaat Kings Fork, who also coached former SC State player Trenix Fox. Fox played for the Lady Bulldogs from 2009-13.

"Imani is a big guard who can play multiple positions which will allow us to play big and small", Robertson said. "Being able to switch it up like that is a luxury I'm glad we have."

Ratliff spent the last two years at Georgia Highland Community College in Rome, Ga. Last season, she averaged 6.6 points, 4.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game in 30 games for head coach Brandan Harrell at GHCC. The Lady Chargers went 16-16 in 2014-15 and advanced to the semifinal round of the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament for the second straight year.

"Bria will add some much-needed stability to the point guard position for us", Robertson said.

Lewis and Ratliff join 6-4 center Dashanique Peterson (Kingstree, S.C./Kingstree High School) and 6-3 forward JaQuanna Murray (Orangeburg, S.C./Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School) who signed during the early period.
