
ORANGEBURG, SC – South Carolina State's
Tevin Richard was named the STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week.
Richard, a 6-0, senior from Georgetown, SC blocked two punts in a 34-7 win over Delaware State. Defensively, he added two forced two fumbles, one he returned for a 10-yard touchdown. Also, he collected five tackles and broke up one pass in the win.
The honor is the second accolade for his performance against the Hornets as he was named the conference's Special Teams Player of the Week earlier in the day.
Richard is the third MEAC player to garner STATS FCS national honors this year. South Carolina State's
Javon Hargrave was named the national defensive player and N.C. A&T's Khris Gardin earned special teams player of the week earlier this season.
