ORANGEBURG, SC—Former South Carolina State wide receiver Tyler McDonald has been offered an invite to rookie camp by the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL).

McDonald, the Bulldogs All-Time Career Leader in Receptions & Yards will report Thursday to rookie camp with the New England Patriots. The Summerville native will have an opportunity over three days to earn a free agent contract guaranteeing him a spot on the 90-player roster.

McDonald is coming off a 2013 season in which he had a career-best 51 receptions for 956 yards and seven touchdowns. He accomplished those numbers and the school career marks (159 receptions, 2,389 reception yards) despite playing with a torn wrist ligament.
