ORANGEBURG, SC—Scouts from eleven (11) National Football League teams were on hand Wednesday as 12 former South Carolina State football players displayed their skills during the Bulldog annual Pro Timing Day at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.
The Bulldog players, along with four players from Wofford, were measured and sent through a number of drills, including the broad jump, vertical jump, bench press, flexibility, 40-yard dash, and speed agility.
Among the SC State players working out were several who had received the most interest from NFL scouts during the season – LB
Joe Thomas, S
Kimario McFadden, WR
Tyler McDonald and center
Tristan Bellamy. But WR
Caleb Davis may have helped his chances of playing at the next level with his performance, especially in the 40-yard dash, where he had the best showing among the SC State players with a time of 4.44.
Other Bulldog players participating were CB
Mason Harris, S/CB
Darius Drummond, QB
Richard Cue, TE
Lambert Givens, FB
Devin Wherry, and WR Antonio Jones, who did not play last season. PK/P
Nick Belcher demonstrated his skills as a punter and place kicker.
